AGE-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS The manual is based on Erikson's eight stages of development, and covers topics appropriate for clinical and non-clinical staff. The program enhances your staff's age-specific knowledge, and provides a system for you to monitor and validate their skills and behaviors necessary for the care of all patients throughout the life cycle. The manual addresses age-specific healthcare issues such as:

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS Employees read the chapters of the manual that pertain to the age-groups of the patients for whom they provide care. The chapters are written clearly and are quick and easy to read. Post-tests assess your employees' age-specific knowledge. Competency validation tools for each age group allow the employees to be evaluated by a preceptor, staff developer, educator, mentor, or clinical manager. The validation tools indicate the method of competency validation used, e.g., direct observation, scenario, post-test, medical record audit, etc. It is important to identify the method of competency validation used by the validator. Staff compliance tracking forms are provided so nursing and other healthcare managers can keep a log of their staff's progress toward compliance. |
